In the strictest sense, resiliency research refers to a body of international cross-cultural, lifespan developmental studies that followed children born into seriously high-risk conditions such as families where parents were mentally ill, alcoholic, abusive, or criminal, or in communities that were poverty-stricken or war-torn. Researching populations around the world has taught us that resilience leaders foster the humility required to leverage the expertise of members at every level of the system.
